the dream is over

so after my second phone interview, google decided to say thanks but no thanks via email.  they broke up with me over email!  after i go on 2 dates with a guy i feel that he at least deserves a phone call.  so the dream of having free meals, dry cleaning and car washes is officially over.  boo.  i guess its time to start looking for social work jobs! 

are there too many asian students at berkeley?

check out this article from nytimes.com about the fact that berkeley is now 41% asian.  it discusses the implications, like whether affirmative action should be reinstated, and at one point the chancellor at berkeley says, "And many Chinese-Americans are a lot like Caucasians in some of their values and areas of interests."  check it out:

they liked me!

i had my phone interview with these guys yesterday and i think things went well.  i had studied up on their products and business model and competitors and all that, but my interviewer didn't even ask about any of those things.  she basically wanted to hear what i had done at my previous job and why i wanted to go back to event planning after getting my masters in social work.  good question, right?  anyways, the recruiter emailed me this morning to say that they would like to do a 2nd phone interview so i guess my first interview was a success! 

so i'm back in cold and dreary st. louis again.  boo.    but i had a great time visiting the Bay and it felt so good to be back and among friends.  can't wait until i'm back for good in may!  i'll post pictures soon!

only one more semester to go!

i finished my last final of the semester today!!  hooray!  now i can finish christmas shopping and clean my apartment and do my laundry and get a haircut and watch some of the tv shows that i have tivo'ed and look for a job and read some of the books that have been piling up on my nightstand and all the other things that i've been putting off to study for finals.  i can't believe i've only got one more semester to go.  where have the past two years gone? 

by the way, i'll be in the bay area over new year's.  so if people are in town, i'd love to hang out, have a burger at in-n-out, and catch up.  but if you're not going to be around, that's ok too because hopefully i'll be moving back for good in may! 

i hate winter

you know what's worse than snow, and even worse than rain?  freezing rain.  it's not soft or fluffy and you definitely don't want it to melt on your tongue because it hurts when it pelts you in the face.  it started coming down two hours ago and its not forecasted to stop until tomorrow. 

i miss california.
